Wyatt the Buffalo

Picture
Picture
I decided to asses his state of mind and physique by  taking him for a run. Tha t is the best way to really asses him, he came out of the stall "mooing" in his ever deepening voice, then started to canter alongside the truck  smooth, easy , enthusiastic, energetic, powerful yet light. From the bed of the truck I could not hear his hoof beats.
From that canter he arched his back more and pulled both his back leg under him together and I knew what was coming. The tail shoots up and he goes to a powerful gallop, leaving the truck  at 30 miles behind and gaining.

Picture
Wyatt loves to play hide and seek with dad. This is very good
for him since he has to think about it and become more and more
cerebral.

Picture
Wyatt got his first letter from Roberto from Arizona.
He loved it when his mom was reading the letter to him while munching on oats.
Offcourse he sent a replay back and there is a secret in it.

Picture
Top seeding, is a process by which you seed the pasture during a heavy warm storm.
The raindrops will burry the seeds and subsiquent warmer days will help to bring the pasture back.
We have been using this technique for the past 5 years successfully.
Timing is the most important thing in top seeding.

Picture
Wyatt, after lounging in his Tee-Pee, disappears and we find him by the truck,
he tries to play innocent by scratching himself.
But I gave him a good scratch and he was so happy to get it.
Picture
He kind of liked it and we had a little nap
Picture
Morning Walk with Wyatt is one of the best things in my life.
I can introduce him to many different things and situations and
can see that he actually learn a lot and responds to everything he
sees and experience.
Picture
I was on the other side of the pond and he ran
all around the pond to meet me.

Picture
Wyatt love to run. All his character comes out when he runs.
This was a full steam run and he was so happy and content at
the end and went straight to the stall  to have his hay.
It was amazing to watch the agility and the speed.

Picture
This was his very first Christmas. Spend a lot of time with kids and family
and then laid down and slept.

Picture
I found a way to make him stretch when he drink milk.
When they suck the nipples naturally, the body position of
the mother is in such a way that the babies have to stretch.
It might help them to swallow without aspirating.

Picture
He was spooked by the chickens when he was little fellow.
After introducing him to the chickens and their daily life, he is now
friends with them and even share his oats with them.

Picture
He was going around the flat bed looking at Thara the heeler
and wanted to jump up with her,
He spent a long time up in the flat bed checking it out \
and then finally laid down and slept
Picture
The very first visitors of Wyatt.
They were very happy feeding and walking him at the ranch and
had a one of kind experience
Picture

I was teaching gate manners to the newly trained horses.
To my surprise Wyatt decided to join and showed no fear of horses.
It was fun and also a little training session for Wyatt
Picture

It was adorable to see Wyatt trying to eat hay  with his soft baby mouth,
just because he saw the stud eating hay.
He mooed at me when he saw me.
Picture

This was the very first play day with Wyatt.
Decided to play hide and seek with him before giving him his milk.
That way he will not associate me with just feeding
rather will enjoy the play and use his brain
. So the idea was fun, learning and feeding
Picture
Baby Wyatt 2 day old
.He was a feisty little fellow when he was 2 days old.
It took me over 4 hours to gain his trust on that very first day
after being kicked and rammed by him countless times.
But then he started to trust me and accept milk bottle from me.
That was a precious moment.
Picture
He Loves his lamb milk.
For the next 6 months he enjoyed having a bottle of milk in the morning .
But I made him work for the milk by lots and lots of play.
