This is a Prairie Rattlesnake. There are several varieties of rattlesnake in the United States. But they all make the same distinct warning noise. They are extremely poisonous and can be fatal. So whenever you are enjoying the outdoors, Make sure to keep your ears open for this sound. If you hear it, stop, look around you, and if you see the snake, slowly back away from it.
