It was a quiet day on the ranch. The horses and goats were happily munching on the lush grass and enjoying the fresh breeze of the late summer. The rancher had left early that morning with his truck and trailer, and there had been no sign of him for the past few hours.
"Do you think they are bringing new horses to Cloverfield Ranch, Drifter?" asked Friday, who had spent the past few hours keeping an eye out for the rancher and his return.
"You can never tell Friday. Sometimes its more food for us, and sometimes its new horses. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we'll find out soon enough." said Drifter.
"I hope it's food! I don't like new horses!" said Friday, pawing stubbornly at the ground.
"Friday, Drifter look! He's back!" said Maya, her golden hair flowing as she sprinted past them, running up to the trailer that was making its way down the driveway. All the horses followed, running wild and bucking behind the trailer, excited to see what awaited them inside.
The trailer came to a slow stop, and the rancher stepped out of his truck.
"Go ahead guys! Take a look, see whats in there!" he said, gesturing the horses towards the trailer.
"Hmm, it smells kinda funny in there! It doesn't smell like food or new horses!" said Friday, slowly backing away from the trailer with Maya.
"Don't worry guys! I'll go check out what's inside." said Drifter as he confidently walked past Friday and towards the trailer.
Slowly, he walked around the metal box and peeked inside.
"Hmm that's strange, I can't see anything inside." he thought to himself. He took another step to look a little closer and suddenly he heard a loud "OINK."
"RUN GUYS IT'S GOING TO EAT US!" Drifter screamed, and he turned and bolted away.
"Lets go Maya!" said Friday, as the two followed Drifter along with the rest of the herd, heads and tails high in the air. When he felt as though he was far enough, Drifter and the rest of the herd stopped to see what was in the trailer.
After watching the horses bolt, the rancher laughed, and made his way to the back of the trailer to let the new additions out. When he opened the door, Bonnie and Clyde, Cloverfield's very own new piglets hopped out, ready to explore their new home.
"That sound was made by piglets?!" exclaimed Friday to Drifter as he and the other horses watched the tiny pigs make their way to the pen with the rancher.
"Huh, I would've never guessed. I guess you really can't ever judge a book by its cover!" said Drifter, as the entire herd made its way back to the trailer to say welcome to the new additions to Cloverfield ranch.
And that's just another day at Cloverfield Ranch!
